Theme updates are also important because after updating WordPress your theme may not suitable for the updated WordPress version. That means some of the theme functions may not work properly. 6. SEO Advantages
Although you have use good SEO plugin, if your theme has any code against SEO, Almost your blog isn’t SEO friendly. That means you can’t get good search engine traffic. Premium WordPress themes don’t have that type of codes because premium themes are checked by a team.

Most premium wordpress themes are seo optimized for better ranking. I prefer premium wordpress theme, and not free wordpress theme.

Genesis is definitely the best theme framework. I used it to build my WordPress theme, and it seems to be recommended by more big names than Thesis. Genesis has the support of Matt Mullenweg, Joost de Valk, Mark Jaquith, Darren Rowse, list goes on. If you look at the list of ‘well known’ people using Thesis, most are nobodies…

I agree with you that using premium wordpress themes gives more advantages than free ones. For some time I used free themes but always ensure that I customize them to my taste. But like you mentioned they lack support and also most times contain malicious links.
Btw. I’m also using a Theme-Junkie theme but I had to change the look. I’ve put into almost 35% customization making it look something else. That is how I always like my themes to look. Whether you buy a premium theme or you are using a free theme without customizing it, it simply make your blog look the same like just any other wordpress blog!
